Faith Hassan, Project Associate
Growing up mixed-race in a rural, homogenous environment, Faith developed a profound drive to understand and address the systemic inequalities she experienced. This led her to relocate to San Francisco and pursue opportunities that would allow her to create meaningful social change. Faith honed her skills in community engagement, market research, and project coordination during an internship at InterEthnica. She also earned a coveted fellowship spot at a local nonprofit, where Faith immersed herself in grassroots community organizing, partnering with labor unions, and engaging with workers about their rights under the Fair Week laws.
Faith’s commitment to social justices continues in her now, full-time associate role at InterEthnica where she uses her education, internship experience, and grassroots organizing skills to support projects like the Port of San Francisco’s Waterfront Resilience Program, conducting outreach and engagement with diverse groups of San Franciscans on critical environmental justice topics. Faith is proud of her work with the Department of Elections ensuring blind and sight-impaired voters have access to accessible voter information materials. She is passionate about empowering community members to participate in action, engage in a way that works for them, keeping the public informed about the policies and programs affecting their lives, like in her work supporting residents in the Treasure Island Development Authority’s relocation efforts.
Faith holds a bachelor’s degree with honors from San Francisco State University in Sociology with an emphasis on Race and Resistance Studies. In her free time, you can find Faith exploring restaurants, nightlife, and hikes around the Bay Area.
